Land, Sea and Sky - Abstract Landscapes

A MIXED MEDIA CLASS EXPLORING BEAUTIFUL IMAGES, TEXTURES, AND COLORS.

Do you catch yourself looking at the sky and wondering, “How would I paint that?” Or maybe you’ve caught yourself standing in a sea of flowers or by the ocean and dreamed of capturing that beauty on canvas. The world is a fascinating place to explore through painting!

One of the techniques you will learn in this class will add nuance and mystery to your piece. Using old maps, newspaper clippings, journal entries, magazine pictures, dictionary definitions and other flotsam and jetsam, you will build your background with mixed media to create depth and intrigue. We will also use palette knives and a different art tool that you probably have never thought could be used for making fine art (you’ll be surprised). I’m pulling out all of the stops and sharing with you my secrets for painting compelling and powerful abstract landscapes and seascapes. And it will be a lot of fun — because that’s how creating should be.
